You moderate a very popular community. One which, given its focus, relies on being updated regularly. As the community has very strict posting guidelines for very obvious and understandable reasons, all posts are moderated, and need to be approved before showing up.

You knew back in December that you were going to become fairly unavailable in the foreseeable future. You had the foresight to announce this to the comm, and even asked for people to step up to fill in for you.

Many people volunteered. Either you didn't respond to any of them, or you did so in private, and the people to whom you responded utterly flaked.

The comm is now lucky to get updated once a week. I've seen it go even longer than that without any posts from you to my F-list. This has messed me up in the past. It's recently messed someone up so badly that by the time the post went through, the reason they needed said post had already gone to their publisher.

By now, a few of you probably know exactly the community I'm talking about. I'm not upset over this (okay, I was when I was trying to do some genetics research a few weeks ago, and it took forever to get the very simple answer I needed); more... disappointed, I guess. It can't be that difficult to find decent help.

Clearly, I'm tired and cranky and should just get off the internet for a while.

What the hell were you all doing while I was in bed? My LJ inbox email address has over 100 messages in it. That thing was empty when I fell asleep. D:

would you kindly UNARSE YOURSELF? Seriously. These timeouts when I'm posting comments are just NOT ON.

242 icon slots.

And I've maxed them out.

WTF, self?

Also, I think I lost icon space, because I very distinctly remember the number of available slots being bigger. HMMMM

I was just checking my messages, and I came across this in my inbox:

That's just mean. Not that this person defriended me -- I think we've all defriended people -- but that LJ thinks that it would be necessary to tell me. What is the logic in having LJ tell you that you've lost a reader?

It's a Dear John letter, sent to you by the best friend of your now-ex.

Dear Mr X,

Sorry, things weren't working out between the two of you. By the time you read this, she'll have moved on. To someone else's bed. Mine. But don't take it too hard, because it wasn't you; it was her. She found you too boring and irrelevant. I hope you understand.

-LiveJournal

Okay, so it's not quite as bad as that. I think this person has only commented on my stuff about once or twice. But it just seems really random that LJ feels it necessary to tell me that they defriended me. That's really not something that I really needed to know, I don't think. If I defriend someone at 12:30 at night without telling them, it's probably because I don't really feel like I know them well enough to tell them.

Unfortunately, LJ sees things differently. LJ seems to feel that we need to take the blow to our ego/self-esteem/whatever. Knock us down a peg, or something.

I don't know. TL;DR, it seems weird that LJ sent me this email. Also, that the first option is "defriend this person back" sort of cracks me up. "Oh, yeah? You don't like me any more? Well... well... I don't like you, either! Haha!"

Financial aid still hasn't gone through yet. If it doesn't go through by the 5th then, uhm.... I'm not sure, actually. Well, actually, if it doesn't go through by the 3d, I'm going to go back down there and figure out what my options are. This will happen for me. It will, because I will make it happen.

Also, I just found out today that apparently [livejournal.com profile] less_not_more was nearly arrested in LA earlier this week. For juggling. Good lord, the sorts of people I associate with do amuse me. Yes, this is a veiled attempt at pimping his journal right now. He's doing some pretty cool stuff right now out in California, and documenting it in his journal.
oxfordtweed: (Do Panic - Arthur)
So, I've imported everything from this year. I've got about a year and a half's worth of stuff, but for the sake of making everything feel like home, I'm moving everything over.

Unless you go looking for the entries, y'all should probably never notice a difference, since I'm using Semagic to import everything, and it automatically backdates stuff. The thing I really like, though? It remembers which icons and tags I used on the original entry, and the music I was listening to (there's a huge streak of posts with the Mr Blue icon, because I hadn't imported all of my icons by that point, so it just defaulted to the... well, the default).

We're supposed to go to a friend's today to play some sort of Werewolf D&D-type game. Well, he's Ryan's friend. I don't particularly want to go, because I can never figure out these sorts of games, and that always results in me getting frustrated and then I just start to cry. I do not like to cry, and I especially do not like it when there are other people around. But, I promised Ryan I'd go, and he never does anything with friends, so it seems important that I go with him.

I'm also really hungry. I've just realised this. And I've just realised that I don't remember the last time I ate. Uhm...

Right

Okay. Got things sort of figured out. Sort of.

I've moved a few recent entries over. Now for icons and layout, and then I may start adding folks. I'll probably move over more of them later tonight.

So, you're probably wondering why the change. I know I'm starting to. Anyway, you might have noticed that I'm in the process of going back to school, with the aim of becoming a high school science teacher. Some of the things associated with the other name, I'd rather not have traced back to me. Yeah, this whole changing over thing is a pain, but... well, yeah. I know, it's a pain, but I feel that it's necessary, given the circumstances.

And as for the name, well. Give this a listen.

Okay

So, after some though, I've decided to just switch over. Yes, that means re-joining a million communities and re-watching everyone. But, I'll make it easy on you. You'll likely be receiving some time this evening a friend notice from my new account. Swapping names costs $45, and I just can't justify that. This name will still be used for fandom and RP stuff, but for reasons I'll go more in-depth about later, I want to sort of distance myself from this name, whilst still retaining control of it.

Isn't he wonderful?

Iconses

I never thought I'd say this, but...

...What the hell am I going to do with all my icon space? I've still got over 100 empty slots. After I ran out of icons, I started turning macros and other random pictures into icons.

And then I ran out of those!

Icons!

Do I really need 257 of them?

Probably not, but I'm going to try my damnedest to fill up my allowance again.
oxfordtweed: (Default)
I deleted them, apparently. I think I might even remember when. Over the summer, I went for like, three days solid without sleep, which sort of turned into a case of "Woah. Zed's gone crazy."

I deleted a lot of my online galleries during that time. Apparently I deleted most of my LJ as well. lol whoops.

Anyway, doing some house keeping around here. If there's an old post that you really need for whatever reason, then most of my stuff has been transferred over to http://zed.dreamwidth.org for a sort of back-up. Dunno why you'd need anything, but there it is if you do.

So, after talking with [livejournal.com profile] mikes_grrl this morning, I realised that, yes, my tags are HORRIBLY cluttered. Mainly because I post personal shit and fic here.

Fic is now here. Watch that account if you want to see fic. Otherwise, you won't see it any more.

Now, I'm gonna go clean up my tags.
oxfordtweed: (Harry - Duh)
Got kind of bored with the greyscale. I'm not sure how I like this one. I may go back to the Casino Royale layout I had for much of last year. Dunno yet, though.

Yeah, ditched the argyle layout. It sucked. This one's much better, and I'm not sure why I changed it from this in the first place.

In other news, I really want some chicken nuggets. Goddamn these weird cravings.
oxfordtweed: (Freud! - Phoebe)
It seems as though a lot of people on my F-List are going bonkers over something called Due South.

I'm kind of curious, so I decided to download the first season. It's gonna take a while, it looks like.

But before I get myself in over my head with this, WTF is it?
oxfordtweed: (Nicholas - Up Close)
I just had to go back 200+ entries on my F-list before coming to something I recognised from last night.
