Looks much better, don't you think?

I set up a new work area for myself today. I'd been previously set up on the sofa, but that was starting to get a bit cramped, so I decided to move everything over to the desk that was, up until today, covered in books. The books are now all in a very large big in the other room, and I had to completely re-do the way the TV and the other computer were all set up, which turned my quick project into about two hours of grief.

That mirror is going to go eventually. Whether by being covered with things I print out from the internet (assuming I can get my printer to remember how to print), or because I tear it off the wall, I'm not sure. All I know is that I don't like it, and why would anyone put a mirror right there? Augh.

So. tl;dr, Richard Brook was on the Sherlock Universe's equivalent of Casualty, apparently. They call it Emergency, but it's pretty blatantly Casualty. And I, being me, have come up with a story line for his character and the circumstances under which his character was written out of the show. Which is basically a gender-swapped version of what they did to Lara (defended himself against his nasty boyfriend and went to prison for attempted murder, basically).

I was explaining this, and as a result the madness that is Casualty to Mike and BB, and then:

[08:38] bb: why
[08:39] bb: why do you like it?
[08:39] ~JumperFkr: Because it's the epitome of Murphy's Law
[08:39] ~JumperFkr: It's also kind of fun to try to predict which characters will get killed off/put on a bus/whatever
[08:41] streamfjord: ...I sort of want to read fixit for Brook on Emergency now
[08:41] streamfjord: wtf.
[08:41] ~JumperFk: hahaha I... win?

So, yeah. For the hell of it, I may write some meta-tastic Emergency fixit fic for Dr Brian Stokes.

I've got a bag of the world's messiest granola, and it's making me wonder how difficult this sort of thing would be to make at home.

Any good recipes?

There was a post on FFRants about cut and paste plagiarism, and this idea struck me. So, I found a Fuzz fic I wrote that had some very disticnt images of Sandford, and ran a find/replace script on it to make a Sherlock fic.

Be warned. Here be very OOC porn.

I didn't actually make these; only animated them. But I think [livejournal.com profile] mycroftpoppins is becoming one of my favourite communities on LJ right now.

So, like. Apologies if you watch my fic account. I totally got behind in posting chapters from my Nano over there, and need to get caught up on it.

This probably doesn't actually apply to anyone who watches this account, but I want to put a warning up anyway, just to have an escape clause when someone does inevitably wank at me for posting crap later tonight.

I got bored last night, and started a band.

I say "band" because it's funny. Really, it's just me. I'm called the Lobsters. Let's see how far this can go.

Tonight while I was clearing out some of my stuff to make room for the rest of my stuff, I found something I'd forgotten I even had -- Ralph Records' 10th Anniversary Special. Finding it sparked a small and unexpected twinge of nostalgia, so I decided to put that on while I fiddled around with stuff. I credit this odd little gem for my discovery of a fair number of some of my favourite artists, so there's really not any part of this recording that I don't enjoy.

Listening to Penn Jillette lose his mind made me realise something, though. It's been a very long time since I've just put in an album and done nothing but listen to it all the way through. I'm always doing something else, as I am now, using music as something instead to drown out the noise from the AC or the car park outside. In California, I used to do that a lot; go out to the front room with a stack of old records after Ryan had gone to bed, and do nothing but sit in very dim light whilst just listening to the music. Not just hearing it, as one does when they listen to something while doing something else -- really listening to it.

It's quarter after one, and my sleep schedule is so massively fucked up that I won't be getting to sleep any time soon. I can't listen to my records, because alas, I have no turntable, but I've got loads of stuff on my iTunes. I really want to get one of those nifty USB turntables, because I've got so many records that I'm not able to do anything with, other than look at them (okay, one of them is actually framed and on my wall, but it's a collector's item).

I think that's what I'm going to do tonight, though. I'm not sure what I want to listen to, but I'm sure I'll find something.

(No, they are neither in the KKK, nor are they neo-nazis. They're just really odd.)

ETA: I accidentally deleted this. So, uhm... I suck. This was originally posted last night.
