I might have just found something I was wishing for earlier tonight... test.
ETA: Semagic totally has a random icon feature. It's just called something else. Woot!
It does not, it would seem, work on the post to multiple journals option. Feh.
ETA the second: It only randomises the icons of the journal to which you are crossposting, but not the journal to which you are making the original post.
So, if have Semagic set up for my DW account, and tell it to crosspost to LJ, LJ will get the random icon. If I set it up with LJ, DW gets the random icon.
That's not cool.
