Performance Art, or Practical Joke?
Either way, I need some portable speakers. By portable, I mean fairly inexpensive, able to plug into my iPhone, remain concealed in a backpack, and be loud enough to be heard, oh... in a busy market square or on a commuter train.
Since I think two of you are in Portland, and I plan on bringing at least one of you with me, the plan is to play a few "random" sounds, descretely, from my iPhone, and play them through the speakers. I'm thinking a Dalek shreiking "EXTERMINATE" on the MAX, and various TARDIS landing and taking off tracks at Saturday Market and Pioneer Courthouse Square. And maybe anywhere else I can find that's plently crowded. Ideally, I want to videotape this. Hopefully, I can figure out why my little spy cam is being a dick, but if not, I'll just have to get creative.
Of course, the iPhone is not as loud as one might wish it to be, and the speakers I do have really suck. For this to work, I need something that can be louder than an iPhone.
Any suggestions on brand and/or where to find something like this? I've wanted to pull this little stunt for well over a year, and the speakers have been the only things holding me back. D:
