A Real Post About Real Things

Okay, no Avant Garde music, memes, or bitching about feminists.

Some of you may have seen mentions made in comments or in chats about possibly trying to go back to school. After a year (seriously) of dicking around with FAFSA, I was finally able to get my PIN reset and apply for student aid. CSN is just up on Charleston, and isn't too incredibly far away. And I'm only a few blocks away from UNLV, should I need to transfer there in the future. My plan is to go do all the placement testing and speak with an advisor next week. But I'm all applied and (hopefully) funded, and I've gone through the pain-in-the-rear PDF course list (seriously. PDFs are nice, but they grind my browser to a halt). It looks like I can do most of my program at CSN, but again, I'm not totally sure.

In other news, I've been acting as my dad's personal tech support agent today. Apparently his internet went out last night, and he started freaking out when it didn't come back on today. After about 20 minutes of walking him through power-cycling, and pinging Google directly (because Google's never down, so I always ping them), we determined that Comcast should be able to reset his connection from their end.

Or not.

He got a recording when he rang them about how internet is down until further notice, basically. I'd ask if folks in the Milwaukie area on Comcast have internet, but that would be pointed, since those affected won't be able to access LJ. So, those who aren't on Comcast, particularly in the Milwaukie area: have you heard anything about an outage?
