Meme

This has been going around my F-list, and I'm bored and putting off doing a dozen other things, so this seems like a good time to do a meme.

Ask me about any character I RP or write, and I will pick one of the following and tell you:

(a) Three facts about them from my personal fanon.
(b) Two reasons they're amazing.
(c) Five things that I'd like to see happen to them.
(d) Three people that I might ship that character with and why.
or
(e) If I don't know the character or the fandom, I will make something up.
Original stuff and AUs always okay!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Jools. I should also go and do things, ugh, so tired.

Ho, boy. This is gonna be fun.

a)
The whole autism spectrum thing for him is headcanon. Before I sat down and finally decided on that, he made no sense. Sure, he was adorable, but there was no pattern to anything. Relating to that, there's this whole thing I've attempted to explore regarding his parents. I've decided that his mum is one of those people who doesn't believe in learning disabilities, and would rather just see Jools as lazy or a troublemaker. His dad (who is never even mentioned in canon) was more or less run out when Jools was young, and was always quite angry with the way Jools' mum acted about the whole situation.

And RE: the autism bit, when I was first told about his canon, his character was described to me as being a 'typical dumb blond.' Which, uhm... not so much.

b)
He's so sweet, and so honest, and I think that's what drew me to him in the first place. There are some bits in canon where you can just tell that he's miserable, but because of something that he'd done to make someone else (usually Hannah, but not always) happy.

c)
I want to bring dad back into the picture, but I'm not sure how. I also want to see him get together with Hannah, but I'm worried that letting him have what he wants might just make things worse in this case. If I do wind up keeping him (or if I just move him to MM), there are a few things I want to have happen with him regarding his music which will eventually lead up to him teaching it or giving lessons. That's less than five, but let's just say that the music thing would involve a culmination of a bunch of other things happening.

d)
Oh, god. Canonically, he and Caroline were adorable, and it was a shame that she was married to someone else, I thought. I sort of waver on Hannah, because while it would be nice to see him happy, I know it wouldn't work. Gameplay, wise. No. Just... no.

Oh, I've got so much stuff for the Betelgeusians in general, but I'll just be specific to Ford right now, since he's a bit of a handful even on his own.

a)
Ford started hitchhiking when he was 12 (which seems rather young, but then there's all the muck about Betelgeusians in general that sort of makes it still pretty young, but not like how one wants to imagine him being young), and landed on Earth when he was 15 (which doesn't seem like much of a gap between, but then there's world building muck that sort of makes this actually a bit longer than one wants to imagine). And the reason why he left Arthur on prehistoric Earth was indeed because he was bored, which is quite fatal to Betelgeusians if left unchecked (but in a brief moment of tact, he refrained from mentioning to your Arthur that Arthur was, quite literally, killing him).

b)
Because he totally knows where his towel is. He has his own rules and his own way of looking at the Universe, and neither hell nor high water is going to change his opinion on any of this. Sure, he's a total loose canon and quite possibly dangerous, but at least he knows what he believes.

c)
There are so many things that I plan on exploring with him, both through fic and RP, most of which involves the sorts of things that happened to him before meeting Arthur, and even before landing on Earth. But the combined effect of all of this has pretty much turned him into an unruly teenager who happens to know how to hotwire spaceships and hack computers.

Specifically, I want to look at some of the time he spent on Gretchentown, New Betel (in my headcanon, New Betel is a star just north of Orion's Belt, on the inner rim of Barnard's Loop (HD 38529; have I mentioned yet that I take fandom way too seriously sometimes?), and Gretchentown is the fourth planet in its system), which is where he learned to do most of the more nefarious skills he has now.

d)
No one specifically. He does have a canonical predilection toward the female sex (although I'm not sure if that's Ford, or just a holdover from the source material being from the 70s), so I typically picture him having interest in women, usually in general. Being a Galactic traveller, I don't really think race/species bothers him too much, except for possibly in certain extreme circumstances. Eventually, I do plan on having him run into a Betelgeusian he used to date when he was a student, but I'm not sure what, if anything, I'll actually do with her.

♥ I love your Arthur, too. Even though they're the wrong versions for one another, they're hilarious together (that might actually be why they're so hilarious together, in a way). XD
