I've finally found it. The ending I needed for the WIP of doom that's been killing me for the last few weeks. Here, I've been working under the assumption that Sherlock would just come clean after meeting Lestrade, but he doesn't. He wouldn't.
I said it to... someone; Sherlock cleans up because he wants to. He doesn't care what anyone else thinks or says, and will do this on his own terms. Which still doesn't even totally mean getting clean at all. Just sort of pulling back.
Oh, I'm an idiot. That should have been my ending from the start.
